This educational speech therapy playgroup is designed for parents or caregivers (grandparents, nannies, or other caretakers welcome) and their babies under 12 months old. The content will be most applicable for babies 6-12 months old (as they are more developmentally ready to interact, and play with toys/books, etc.) but younger babies and parents are welcome to join.

Each week, a Speech-Language Pathologist will coach parents through various strategies to encourage speech and language development through songs and rhymes, toy play, book reading and more. A variety of pre-verbal language skills will be taught, modelled, and practised, including eye contact and joint attention, imitation, gestures and baby signs, turn-taking, vocalisations and babbling. Other topics such as typical language milestones, red flags, and where to go if concerns arise, will also be discussed. Questions and other topics of discussion are always welcome! Parents may be asked to bring an item to the playgroup to use with their child (ex. toy, or book for example).

During each class, there will be time dedicated to SLP-led group learning, followed by time for play & practice with coaching, and social time for parents and babies to mingle at the end.

*An official receipt in the child's name, detailing the service provided and fee per class can be issued at the end of the program for each class attended (see conditions here). Check with your insurance provider if you are covered for speech therapy services in the form of parent education.
