Experiencing a miscarriage or infant loss can have a profound and deeply personal impact. Whether a pregnancy ends early or later, the physical, emotional, and psychological effects can feel overwhelming and isolating. Many people are left unsure where to turn for support, especially when friends, family, or the medical system cannot meet all of their needs.

At Rooted Family Wellness Centre, we offer compassionate miscarriage and infant loss support for individuals and families in Ottawa, Kanata, and surrounding areas. Our care is grounded in empathy, respect, and an understanding that every loss and every grieving process is unique.

Support is available whether your loss is recent or occurred in the past, and whether you are seeking emotional support, guidance through medical systems, or a safe space to process your grief.

Our Approach

Our team has extensive experience supporting families through miscarriage and infant loss. We recognize that there is no single way to grieve and no timeline for healing.

We tailor support to your needs, which may include:

  • Emotional support through uncertainty, shock, and grief

Miscarriage and Infant Loss Support FAQs

Is it normal to feel intense grief after a miscarriage or infant loss?

Yes. Grief after miscarriage or infant loss can be overwhelming. Many people experience sadness, shock, anger, guilt, numbness, or longing. These reactions are normal responses to a meaningful loss, regardless of how early the loss occurred or whether others were aware of the pregnancy.

How long does the grieving process last?

There is no set timeline for grief. Grief often changes over time and may resurface around anniversaries, due dates, or other reminders. Healing does not follow a straight path, and support can be helpful at any stage.

When should someone seek professional support?

There is no right or wrong time to seek support. Many people reach out simply to have a safe, compassionate space to process their loss. Professional support can be helpful whether your loss is recent or happened months or years ago.
