Lisa Poulsen

Parent Support Practitioner

Lisa grew up in Winnipeg and has called Ottawa home since 1991. Her journey into supporting families began early. At just sixteen, Lisa knew she wanted to create a stable, loving environment for children—something she longed for in her own upbringing. This intention shaped her career path. She first trained and worked as a legal assistant, choosing a profession she could later transition away from when she was ready to open her own home daycare. For nine years, she cared for little ones in that setting, laying the foundation for the supportive, community-minded work she does today.

Lisa has always connected deeply with the idea that “it takes a village”. She understands firsthand that many parents, especially new ones, often find themselves without one. Her motivation comes from wanting to be that village—someone families can trust, lean on, and welcome into their homes without hesitation. She believes no parent should feel alone, and that having real, hands-on help available can make all the difference.

In her work as a Parent Support Practitioner, Lisa’s goal is simple yet powerful: to meet families exactly where they are. Whether a parent needs a listening ear, practical help like meal prep, support caring for their baby, or simply a calming, grounded presence, Lisa adapts to the moment. She hopes each family she serves feels safe, supported, seen, and increasingly confident in their own instincts and abilities. She honours and celebrates the many shapes and sizes families come in, and strives to help every parent feel empowered in their unique journey.

Outside of her work, Lisa enjoys running, scrapbooking, painting, and her true passion—organizing. She loves experimenting with new recipes, tending to her native plant garden, reading, and walking her dog. She provides services in English and supports families across Barrhaven, Riverside South, Manotick, Stittsville, Kanata, North Gower, and Kars.
