Prenatal and Postnatal Parent Support in Ottawa and Kanata

Supervised Postpartum Support Program | Social Work Eligible Services

Becoming a parent is a significant life transition. Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period involve physical recovery, emotional adjustment, and learning to care for a newborn.

Rooted Family Wellness Centre offers Prenatal and Postnatal Parent Support in Kanata, serving Ottawa and surrounding communities. Our Parent Support program provides structured postpartum support, newborn care education, and emotional guidance to help families feel confident and supported during this transition.

Services are delivered by trained Parent Support Practitioners within a supervised program model. Each family begins with an initial consultation with our Registered Social Worker, who develops the care plan and provides ongoing oversight, coordination, and review throughout the duration of services.

Because Parent Support is provided under the oversight of a Registered Social Worker, eligible families may submit receipts under Social Work coverage, depending on their individual insurance policy.

Services are delivered under the direct supervision of:

Stephanie Borgen, MSW, RSW, CC-PMH, #840164

Receipts are issued under her credentials in accordance with insurance requirements for supervised services.

Coverage eligibility depends on your specific policy. We recommend confirming the following with your insurer:

  • Coverage for Registered Social Work services
  • Reimbursement eligibility for supervised services
  • Whether coverage applies under the parent or child

If required, we are happy to provide documentation confirming supervision and program structure.

Parent Support vs. Postpartum Doula Care

Families often ask about the difference between Parent Support and postpartum doula care.

Parent Support at Rooted Family includes many elements commonly associated with postpartum doulas, such as newborn care education and emotional reassurance. The key difference is that our program operates within a supervised clinical framework under a Registered Social Worker, which may allow eligible families to access Social Work insurance coverage.
